One of the challenges faced by us working remotely from home is getting enough fresh air and exercise.

Many studies have shown that doing physical activity can improve mental health. For example, it can help with:

  • better sleep – by making you feel more tired at the end of the day
  • happier moods – physical activity releases feel-good hormones that make you feel better in yourself and give you more energy
  • managing stress, anxiety or intrusive and racing thoughts – doing something physical releases cortisol which helps us manage stress.
  • Being physically active also gives your brain something to focus on and can be a positive coping strategy

So with this in mind NACWL launched a company ‘step’ challenge-to virtually walk 1916 miles from our Horndean office to one of our glass suppliers ‘Star Grup’ in Istanbul.

The challenge took us 3 weeks to complete, employees left their homes in the snow, rain, wind and sun to get their virtual steps in every day and we photographed some beautiful local scenery while doing it.

We raised £1000 for Portsmouth food bank and Star Grup employees got together to greet us at their Istanbul office with a finishing certificate, how fantastic!
