Client: McLaren Construction Group
Contractor: NACWL
Sector: Residential
Location: London
Opportunity:
The NACWL team were employed to investigate and upgrade the full facade at a 5-storey live residential block in London.
Proposal:
Using lorry mounted MEWP’s NACWL initially investigated several areas of the existing rainscreen facade construction to identify original workmanship issues which could affect the fire safety of the building. We then provided a report and photographs of our findings to the main contractor, playing an active part in meetings with the facade consultants and other relevant stakeholders to develop a solution for the remediation works.
On completion of the investigations, it was decided that remedial works were necessary, and the main contractor appointed NACWL to undertake works to the full facade. Our scope of works included the temporary removal of the existing cladding, replace defective cavity barriers, install new cavity barriers and non-combustible vent flues prior to re-installing the original cladding. Access was via scaffold and we worked in a structured and phased manner to reduce the impact on residents while liaising and prioritising tenants and public safety.
The project also included sourcing and procurement of materials, management of installation teams, removing and reinstalling rainscreen panels, fitting new vertical and horizontal siderise fire cavity barriers.
‘Throughout the project the NACWL team worked with the utmost professionalism which reflected in the high quality recladding installation and project management. They developed a realistic and robust cost plan for us to make informed decisions while working collaboratively with us, the facade consultants and client to improve the fire safety of the building. I have no hesitation in recommending NACWL’
