Opportunity:
ABP has invested in a new docking building to meet the growing popularity of cruise holidays and service larger, more developed cruise ships. The building will be used to safely transfer passengers onto the cruise ships via the impressive 80-metre bridge.
Proposal:
NACWL used a combination of Schueco, Aluprof and SMARTS systems to provide unique solutions for the bespoke applications required. This included fire-rated windows, bi-folding doors and curtain wall facades, one of which boasts a single span of 5 metres, and curtain wall rooflights that achieve a CWCT class 1 rating.
‘NACWL provided a crucial role in partnering with Brymor, providing proposals for the curtain walling and rooflight elements during the tender process for the T5 Cruise Terminal project. This contributed to the success of the bid and subsequent order from ABP for the project.During the design phase, they worked incredibly well with the cladding contractor so that the details drawn by each contractor reflected those drawn by the other.
This lead to a coordinated design and allowed materials to be ordered in good time for the procurement process. This continued through to the construction phase where the curtain walling and cladding elements were coordinated and each subcontractor understood the install sequence of each other. This approach allowed the building to be watertight ahead of the programme and ultimately lead to the successful completion of the project. I look forward to working with NACWL on the next large curtain walling project.’
