Client: Galliford Try
Project Type: Supply and Install
NACWL were employed by Galliford Try to supply and install the curtain walling system and pressed metal fabrications to 13 floors of the HSBC UK headquarters.
- Main Façade and Atrium curtain wall system- Schueco FW60XR and FW80XR systems including bomb blast enhancement.
- 2no Main Entrances – Broad Street and Bank Court – Jansen VISS60 SG curtain wall and steel system
- Basement curtain walling and louvres-Schueco FW60+ CW Screens and glazed in RENSEN Louvre Screens and Doors
- Glazed doors-Schuco Door System with Automatic OH Door Operators
- Bespoke pressed metal cills, cappings & flashings
The main element of works consisted of 2 floors of Schueco FW80XR with steel lined mullions that required lifting into position with the use of the tower crane to a bespoke and job specific lift plan. The upper 8 Floors of Schueco FW60XR – All frames assembled on the floors stood in and fixed off from mast climbers.
The 2 main entrance consisted of Schueco Jansen VISS60 SG – Due to the main entrances being set back from the face of the building the steel curtain wall sections were lifted in with UNIC 295 mini cranes again working to a bespoke job specific lift plan. These screens also had large DGUs weighing 770kgs installed within them, that had to be lifted in working with specialist lifting plant & equipment – cranes, vacuum suckers and running rails – This was a very awkward & challenging operation for us.
The main atrium curtain wall screen consisted of Schueco FW60XR installed from mast climbers and fixed to secondary steel tubular trusses at all floor levels with bespoke curved steel brackets creating an impressive look internally against the backdrop of the internal feature staircase.
