Client: Newham Schools
Contractor: Laing O’Rourke
Project Type: Investigation
Post Grenfell most main contractors carried out due diligence on their past projects. Laing O’Rourke were very proactive in assessing their past order book and compliance. This included a thorough check on a series of 5 schools in the borough of Newham, London, which were 5 years old. The main cladding was trespa and while assessing the grade of material, it’s compliance and certification at the date of installation it was necessary to carry out a full dimensional survey of all 5 schools during the Easter holidays to allow replacement to commence quickly that summer if needed.
Special Projects Proposal
We were Principal Contractor and organised all access equipment including truck mount and self propelled cherry pickers. With IPAF trained engineers we were able to carry out 8 survey areas simultaneously. Laing O’Rourke described the survey reports as the ‘most detailed and accurate survey/report they had ever received’ with clear schedules and bill of quants’ available for use.
